It is very rich in Omega-6 linoleic and Omega-9 oleic Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs), which comprise over 50% of shea butter by weight. It also contains large, naturally-occurring concentrations of retinol, which reduce wrinkles, as well as various highly beneficial naturally-occurring UV absorbers, antioxidants and Omega-3 EFAs. It also has a natural SPF of up to 8.
Shea butter is reported to be a natural moisturizer and emollient, as well as a competent cell regenerator.
